Demand in Northwest Europe remains generally low, and prices are currently stable.
China's standard ammonium sulfate price was US$ 190-200/ton fob China this week, a slight drop from last week, while demand in Central America picked up slightly. The FOB price of 20,000 tons of standard ammonium sulfate at the river port this week is US$187/ton for shipment in December. The price of mma grade ammonium sulfate is about US$ 160 /ton fob this week.
The FOB price of extruded granule ammonium sulfate is US$ 225-245/ton. Demand from Brazil continued to remain sluggish this week, and buyers were still on the sidelines, unwilling to make any purchase decisions amid falling international urea prices.
Thailand imported 25,300 tons of ammonium sulfate in October, a year-on-year decrease of 11%. China was Thailand's main supplier in October, but deliveries fell 17% year-on-year to 22,900t.
Thailand's imports fell in October as torrential rains and severe flooding in central Thailand affected the second rice planting season in November. Demand for fertilizers such as ammonium sulphate has thus decreased, and importers say local stocks are still sufficient and do not intend to import.
Indonesia's ammonium sulphate imports totaled 76,100 tonnes in October, down 32% year-on-year. China was Indonesia's main supplier in October, with deliveries down 40% year-on-year to 67,100t. But deliveries from Taiwan rose to 8,700 tonnes in October this year, compared with 2,000 tonnes in the same period last year.
An importer in Malaysia received an offer for 12,000 tons of mma-grade standard ammonium sulfate at an FOB price of US$184 per ton for shipment before January 20. The cargo may be shipped from China, and the FOB price in China is about US$ 168 / ton.
There were no reports of ammonium sulphate offers from Vietnam this week. Buyers continued to stay on the sidelines, not buying any ammonium sulphate, even though the dry season, when demand is usually expected to increase, has started in mid-November.
Incofe in Central America will close the bidding on December 12 to purchase 24,000 tons of standard-grade ammonium sulfate, 12,000 tons of extruded granular ammonium sulfate and 1,100 tons of water-soluble ammonium sulfate, which will be shipped on January 15-25 at various west coast ports in Central America uninstall.
