Price Changes of Urea, Ammonium Sulfate, Ammonium Phosphate, Triple Superphosphate, Potash Fertilizers, and Compound Fertilizers from October 20th - October 27th
Urea
Most regions saw urea prices decline once again this week, with limited import demand affecting the global supply and demand balance (excluding India).
India: In IPL's import tender on October 20th, the lowest CFR price on the east coast was $404 per ton, while it was $400 per ton on the west coast. India is expected to secure approximately 1.67 million tons of urea with confirmation letters to be issued shortly.
Urea prices have generally fallen in other major import markets, with Brazil mainly focusing on small-scale transactions with CFR prices fluctuating between $390 and $405 per ton. Prices in the United States have dropped, and there has been minimal trading in the European market.
Uncertainty surrounding China's urea export policy continues to impact the market, especially concerning exports to India. Due to cautious attitudes of importers and traders, trading activity remains minimal.
Ammonium Sulphate
Northwest Europe: FOB prices for standard ammonium sulphate in Northwest Europe increased to $212-233 per ton due to new sales from European buyers. China's FOB price for granular ammonium sulphate remained stable at €260-320 per ton, equivalent to FOB $275-338 per ton. This week, trade amounted to at least 12,000 tons, with demand mainly in France, the UK, Ireland, and Germany.
China: FOB prices for standard ammonium sulphate are at $165-170 per ton, lower than the latest trades and offers from last week. MMA-grade ammonium sulphate FOB prices are at $145-150 per ton. This week Extruded pellets of ammonium sulfate FOB prices are at $185-192 per ton.
Indonesia: Pupuk Indonesia concluded a tender to purchase 10,000 tons of Standard caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate, scheduled for shipment to Gresik Port in November. Another importer received offers for bagged Standard caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate this week, with a price of CFR $186 per ton.
Brazil: Under new trading and pricing frameworks, prices for squeezed granular ammonium sulphate in Brazil have fallen to $207-215 per ton. A Chinese producer sold 100,000 tons of squeezed granular ammonium sulphate for shipment in November at CFR $207 per ton. In this context, prices for Standard caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate in Brazil have dropped to $190-195 per ton.
United States: Demand has been generally weak this week, but buyers are expected to return to the market early next month to meet fall application requirements.
Romania: Constanza purchased a batch of ammonium sulphate from China at a price of $196-198 per ton.
Germany: Domo has set the ex-works price for granular ammonium sulphate, scheduled for November shipment, at €277 per ton, an increase of €6 per ton from the previous month's price.
Ammonium Phosphate
India: According to inquiries on October 24th, NFL purchased 30,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate at a price of CFR $594.50 per ton and received a quote for Russian product. Import volumes for monoammonium phosphate for October and November have increased to 656,000 tons and 600,000 tons, respectively.
Additionally, the Indian government has approved the Ministry of Fertilizer's proposal to reduce nutrient-based subsidies (NBS) for phosphate and potash fertilizers from October to March. The NBS for monoammonium phosphate in the rabi season will be INR 22,541 per ton, a 31% decrease from INR 32,641 per ton in the kharif season from April to September. Based on current market prices, the reduced subsidy will lead to a loss of $80 per ton for importers and $60 per ton for domestic monoammonium phosphate manufacturers.
Pakistan: A major importer purchased 40,000 tons of Chinese monoammonium phosphate at a price of $610 per ton. The shipment is scheduled for the first half of November. Domestic monoammonium phosphate prices are at PKR 12,400-12,500 per 50 kg bag, excluding Karachi delivery.
China: The latest FOB prices for monoammonium phosphate shipments have fallen to $575-585 per ton. FOB prices for TMAP remain stable at $750-760 per ton, but rising domestic prices may lead to an increase in export prices. It is currently unclear how many export quotas for phosphates are available for the remainder of the fourth quarter. Continued demand in India, coupled with winter storage demand in the domestic Chinese market, is expected to support monoammonium phosphate prices for the remainder of this year.
Saudi Arabia: Ma'aden's November shipments include 60,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate at an FOB price of $580 per ton for India, and 30,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate at an FOB price of $640 per ton for the United States. Additionally, 6,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate are being shipped to Iraq at an FOB price of $600 per ton.
Europe: Prices for monoammonium phosphate remain robust due to limited demand in most major markets. A trading company in France has raised its FCA price for bulk monoammonium phosphate to €620 per ton. A supplier in Germany and Poland has raised its FCA price for bulk monoammonium phosphate to $670 per ton, an increase of $5 per ton from last week, and has made sales. Romania's prices have fallen further due to weak demand, with monoammonium phosphate dropping to $620-635 per ton. Continued drought conditions have weakened overall fertilizer demand in the country. An Italian supplier hopes to ship approximately 5,000 tons of Egyptian monoammonium phosphate to Ravenna, with loading scheduled from October 26th to November 5th.
Turkey: Demand for imported DAP is decreasing, with prices at around $620 per ton or lower.
Brazil: CFR prices for phosphoric acid remain stable at $560 per ton. Some trading companies have raised quotes to CFR $565 per ton. Prices for DAP/MAP in Argentina are stable. Fertilizer demand in Paraguay is recovering, with a higher demand for phosphoric acid over monoammonium phosphate. The CFR price for monoammonium phosphate is $630-635 per ton, while the CFR price for monoammonium phosphate is $655-660 per ton.
United States: Mosaic had no new export sales this week. Prices for monoammonium phosphate have slightly increased this week, rising from last week's FOB NOLA $525-540 per ton to $523-550 per ton. Prices for diammonium phosphate remain stable at FOB NOLA $600-635 per ton.
Morocco: OCP reports sales of 9,000 tons of diammonium phosphate for December loading at FOB $610-640 per ton to Western Europe.
Israel: Haifa operates as usual, with product shipments continuing despite ongoing conflicts in the region.
East Africa: Tanzania Fertilizer Company (TFC) concluded a tender to purchase 10,000 tons of diammonium phosphate and other fertilizers, which was originally scheduled for October 19th. Prices have not yet appeared. The Kenyan market is currently calm as the demand for fertilizers needed for short rains planting decreases. Prices for diammonium phosphate have risen to $565-575 per ton in South Africa. Due to low import volumes, high demand for diammonium phosphate in South Africa is facing supply constraints.
The U.S. market has been quiet, with Brazilian importers continuing to watch. Short-term potential demand for diammonium phosphate in India and Pakistan is expected to keep prices stable. If raw material prices fall in the eastern regions, phosphate fertilizer prices may adjust accordingly.
Triple Superphosphate
Brazil: CFR prices for TSP are around $440 per ton.
Bulgaria: Agropolychim offers bagged TSP at the price of €480 per ton.
Egypt: NCIC has issued a tender to sell 12,000 tons of TSP for loading by the end of November. The tender deadline is October 30th.
Potash Fertilizers
As winter storage demand increases, domestic ex-warehouse prices in China have risen by about $7 per ton. In the Suez-West, bids for the purchase of 100,000 tons were quoted at $350-375 per ton, with the high-end price not being accepted. South Africa's potash CFR prices have decreased by $5 per ton based on the latest trade.
ICL stated that as the conflict between Israel and Palestine escalates, potash fertilizer supply has not been impacted temporarily, and logistics in Eilat Port and Ashdod Port are operating normally.
A strike by dockworkers that began on October 22nd has affected a trade route between Montreal and the Canadian Great Lakes, with limited impact on potash fertilizer transportation to date.
Compound Fertilizers
This week, compound fertilizer prices in major markets in China, Southeast Asia, and Europe remained stable due to consistent seasonal demand.
