Price Changes of Urea, Ammonium Sulfate, Ammonium Phosphate, Triple Superphosphate, Potash Fertilizers, and Compound Fertilizers from March 15 to March 22.
Urea:
This week, urea prices have declined. The urea market is currently facing challenges such as insufficient demand, pressure from unsold inventory in April, and market expectations for the outcome of India's tender next week.
Egypt: Urea prices have fallen by $20/ton compared to last week, with Algeria experiencing a similar decline.
Europe and Argentina: The offshore price of urea is $340/ton, although no transactions have been confirmed by producers yet.
Black Sea region: The FOB price of Ukrainian urea is $340-350/ton, while Bulgarian urea's FOB price is $320/ton.
Middle East: The FOB price for large granule urea has dropped from last week's $360/ton to $340-350/ton.
Brazil: The CFR quote for urea has been reduced to $360-365/ton, with the export price at CFR $340-345/ton.
Indian market: Market participants are focusing on the outcome of India's tender on March 27th, attempting to predict how much urea India will purchase, with expectations that Russia and the Middle East will provide the main low-cost supply.
The Indian tender provides an opportunity for producers. Importers in Australia and Thailand plan to resume imports from April to May, while China is expected to resume exports by the end of May, which will pressure prices in the third quarter.
Ammonium Sulphate:
Europe: The FOB price for standard ammonium sulphate has narrowed to $164-174/ton, with granular ammonium sulphate prices remaining stable at $238-319/ton. The continued decline in production across several regions is impacting prices.
Spain: The quoted price for granular ammonium sulphate is between 255-260 euros/ton.
Germany: The factory price for DOMO brand granular ammonium sulphate ranges between 280-285 euros/ton.
Italy: Granular ammonium sulphate is sold in bulk at 290-300 euros/ton.
Russia: Phosagro has increased its granular ammonium sulphate capacity to 360,000 tons/year, bringing the total capacity to 660,000 tons/year.
China: The FOB price for standard ammonium sulphate has fallen to $123-130/ton. The FOB price for 6,000-8,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate shipped in March is $120/ton. A supplier has sold 5,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate at an FOB price of $125-130/ton, planned to be shipped to Southeast Asia by the end of April. The FOB price for MMA-grade ammonium sulphate is $110-115/ton, and the FOB price for compacted granular ammonium sulphate is $145-150/ton.
Brazil: The FOB price for compacted granular ammonium sulphate is $145-150/ton, but there is little interest in purchasing.
Philippines: An importer has completed a tender for purchasing 8,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate at a CFR price of $140/ton, to be shipped to Sangi port before April 20th. The goods likely come from China, with shipping costs from China to the Philippines around $20/ton.
Thailand: An importer has completed a tender for purchasing 10,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate at a CFR price of $140/ton, with the FOB price around $120/ton, and shipping costs around $20/ton.
India: Mahadhan Agritech has concluded a tender on March 21st to purchase 20,000 tons of standard ammonium sulphate.
USA: As the northern spring approaches and market tightness is realized, ammonium sulphate prices have risen. The FOB price in the NOLA region has increased to $370-385/ton.
Ammonium Phosphate:
India: The CFR price for diammonium phosphate (DAP) has been reduced to $579-$585 per ton. The latest tender from RCF shows the lowest bid at $579.19 per ton for purchasing 100,000 tons of DAP, divided into two batches of 50,000 tons each. RCF aims to have these shipments arrive on India's west coast by April 30. DAP imports in March were slightly below 200,000 tons, while as of April, they have reached 375,000 tons.
Pakistan: Due to sufficient stock available until May, the demand for DAP imports is suppressed, leading to a decrease in the selling price to CFR $610-$620 per ton.
China: The FOB price for DAP has further dropped to $570-$585 per ton, with the CFR price for 8,000 tons shipped to the Philippines at the end of April being $590 per ton.
Saudi Arabia: Ma'aden has sold approximately 75,000 tons of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) to Brazil this week.
Jordan: JPMC has sold DAP at a FOB price of $550 per ton.
Southeast Asia: Due to ample stock and insufficient domestic seasonal demand, the price for DAP in Southeast Asia has dropped to $595-$615 per ton.
Morocco: OCP has shipped 7,000 tons of DAP to Western Europe this week, with a FOB price of $595-$610 per ton.
Egypt: NCIC reported selling 30,000 tons of DAP to the USA in March at a FOB price of $610 per ton.
USA: The price for DAP dropped by $32.50 per ton this week, while the price for MAP has increased. The FOB price for DAP at the Nola port ranged from $570-$640 per ton this week. The FOB price for MAP at Nola has increased by $2.50 per ton to $620-$640 per ton.
Brazil: The price for MAP (11-52) has remained stable at $565-$570 per ton, and a Mexican importer plans to import approximately 30,000 tons of DAP/MAP in the second half of April, with an expected price range of $605-$610 per ton.
Overall, the dynamics in the phosphate fertilizer market show regional variations in prices and demand, reflecting the complexity of the global phosphate market.
Triple Superphosphate:
Lebanon: The LCC is currently undergoing factory maintenance and may resume production by the end of this month.
Morocco: OCP has sold less than 5,000 tons of TSP to the Latin American market (excluding Brazil) at an FOB price of $390-$405 per ton, scheduled for shipment in March or April.
France: The price of TSP offered by Israeli company ICL is between €470-€475 per ton.
United Kingdom: The price of TSP is approximately £420 per ton for bagged delivery.
Netherlands: TSP from ICL has an FOB price of €480 per ton in Amsterdam, for bulk delivery.
Potassium Fertilizer:
Recently, Pupuk Indonesia initiated its tender for the purchase of standard potassium chloride for the second quarter, setting the price at $302 per ton. Approximately 75,000 tons of goods have been allocated to two suppliers via three ships.
Brazil: The price of granular potassium chloride continues to rise, with suppliers aiming for higher levels.
Europe: Adverse weather conditions have delayed spring fertilizer applications, reducing the volume of potassium chloride transactions and exerting downward pressure on prices.
China: From January to February, China imported 2.69 million tons of potassium chloride, the highest level since 1995, which helped increase port inventories to 3.87 million tons by mid-March.
Limited recent supply and healthy demand are expected to support the stability of potassium chloride prices in Brazil. However, low trade volumes in other regions will likely keep prices relatively stable.
Compound Fertilizers:
This week, the international compound fertilizer market remained stable, with most regions seeing little change in prices.
However, the price for the 15-15-15 formula in West Africa has risen, while the import prices for the 20-20-0+13S formula in Southeast Asia and India have slightly decreased.
In Northern Europe, as the main season for compound fertilizer application ends, demand continues to decline, which could affect short-term price trends in the region.
In India and other parts of Asia, the demand for compound fertilizers is expected to remain stable in the short term, potentially supporting current price levels.
Overall, while the global market for compound fertilizers is currently relatively stable, there are regional differences, and the market is still subject to potential impacts from changes in supply and fluctuations in demand.
