China Export
According to statistics, China exported a total of 24.86 million tons of various fertilizers (including HS Chapter 28 Ammonium Chloride, Potassium Nitrate and all fertilizers in HS Chapter 31) from January to December, 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 24.6%. Ammonium Sulfate is the most exported fertilizer species in cumulative volume, with 12.45 million tons of Ammonium Sulfate exported in the year.
Compared with 2021, the overall export of fertilizer varieties, except for Ammonium Sulfate which is not included in the export legal inspection catalog, decreased significantly. Ammonium Phosphate, Urea, Ammonium Chloride and other varieties of exports fell by more than 40% year-on-year.
In addition, China exported a total of 238,200 tons of Ammonia in 2022, which was offset by an annual import volume of 231,500 tons, achieving a negative net import volume for the year.
China Import
In December, 2022, China imported 644,500 tons of Potassium Chloride (including pure Potassium Chloride), 366,200 tons of Sulfur, 9,300 tons of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium Ternary Compound fertilizer, and 24,900 tons of other mineral potash and chemical potash.
